Day 21 - fav checker

More people have told me that users might click the task links but not actualy give any vote. I know about this issue from the day one but have not had time to do anything till now. I have made the checker. For the moment it only works on stumbleupon but i'll add it for a new network each day. Also if you have any sugestions for networks to be added like youtube or anything that you want to use please message me and i'll doit.

Best Regards,
Radu.

my concern with this is that it shows what our profiles are. if this site gets discovered by stumble or whomever they can just get this information and ban all of our accounts.

which would not be good.

I'm aware of that. I don't show anywhere on the site what your profiles are.
The system checks your profile with the ones that vote and gives you a credit if you voted. The profiles are not displayed anywhere.

an unrelated suggestion, but maybe links should expire, as in the system should automatically remove it because votes after a certain timeframe are generally useless.

For now all links expire in 1 month.
But i can modify this for each network.

I don't think if links were to expire the expiration date should be set when the link is added. This way if you only want a boost on your link you could set it for two hours, if you want it all day you could set it for 24 hours or if it is stumble upon and you just want as many as possible you could set it for a month.

I think we still need to be able to report people, because (for example) on reddit I have one up vote then it says it verified sc****'s vote, but it definitely didn't because I still have one up vote. So I know he/she didn't vote.

seriously... mine is the only up vote... unless they are down voting they didn't do any voting.

Can you add Mixx to the fav exchange?

mixx.com

chris,

i'm bswens and i assure you I'm up voting... did you not consider that others on the network could be down voting as well? if it's reddit your talking about in this comment you can check this details of a particular reddit submission by appending /details to the url (in place of /comments) to see who's up and down voting.

Actually I was just coming back to comment that it could be reddit having issues. I have been getting a lot of 500 errors and I tested up voting and down voting my reddit a few times and then reloading the page. It wasn't on the last vote that I did. So... it could be reddit having issues.

BTW I wasn't talking about overall points I was talking about up points.

I'd also add a general point about voting timeframes within these sites. Everything I've read says that Digg (and I'm assuming the others) places a huge emphasis on votes within the first 24 hours--meaning if an article doesn't make it to Digg's homepage (or category homepage) within that time, it likely will not get there at all. If someone has read things to the contrary, I'd love to know that.

But if that 24-hour window is true, I wonder if it wouldn't help to channel more intense "bursts" of votes instead of spreading them out over multiple days? I don't know how that would be possible with this system, or if it would make sense at all for a user base of several hundred voters, but 20-30 or even 50 votes spread over multiple days won't get an article over that threshold. Again, that's just my impression from research and experience, but if anyone knows something to the contrary, feel free to add.

You are 100% about digg it is 24 hours or bust. Diggs should expire within 24 hours on here.

Also I have been having issues with reddit as well getting 500 errors.

But also I personally won't vote for porn or splogs. While I value the idea of the link exchange I don't want to be associated with either.

Also for the one guy that submitted his entire site for stumbleupon, like every single internal page. That was kind of a jerk move.

I also vote on anything except porn.
