Experiment day 10 - Some Updates

As some users suggested i have added a rss feed for tasks. In this way when you click the link http_referer won't be send.
Also i added propeller and stumbleupon to our network.
After we reach 300 users (probably in a couple of days) will split tasks on categoryes (one rss feed for each network type) . In this way you can use only the network that you like. I personaly suggest to use them all but probably some of users don't want to see a long list of tasks on wich they don't want to participate.

That's all for today.

Best Regards,
Radu.

Note to self:
1. automate checker for each network to check users votes
2. create a refferal program to grow users count and to reward the members with future earnings

Awesome... More bookmarking sites!

It looks like some one is confused about how it works. They are posting the URLs of their pages, not the URLs of their bookmark to their page.

Couple of suggestions...
1. Display how many users are online so you can kind of gauge when the best time is to post something new.

2. Be able to mark which networking sites you have an account at so that your tasks online include those sites.

chris:
1. as the tasks are made from rss feeds you don't have to be online to make tasks.
2. yes this is the next thing i'm working on. I also have to let users know wich tasks are for each network. I guess this confusion has happend since i added stumbleupon.

I just realized that was why they had their URLs like that.

http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/www.sledgehammertotheface.com/2008/05/13/fat-man-puts-his-legs-behind-his-head-worst-talent-show-ever/

A link to the stumbleupon page would make it more obvious that you are supposed to be stumbling it.

So what about the number of recently active users. I just think that would be really helpful.

The only way I ever Stumble is by using the toolbar to give a "thumbs up" when I like the site (or I'm rating one I discovered/was forwarded). So I'm not sure what StumbleUpon page would the link direct to?

Two quick general questions--on the 'Fav Exchange', do the "fav credits" equate to the number of times my sites can be rated by others? And are the number of "favs" under 'Your Links' the number of times people have voted from 1rstlink? I tried to find an FAQ, but couldn't.

While I'm thinking of it, do you have the ability to show a 'Top 10' of sorts for users with the most Fav Credits, and how many they've accumulated?

matt: Yes you guessed the answers to your own questions :). About the FAQ or how it works section i'm planing to put one but i'm not too good at english or literature so if you would want to help me with that i would be gratefull.

Thanks for adding stumbleupon. However, you cannot link to the stumbleupon.com/url/xxx link, those pages report who has stumbled the link but are not themselves thumbable. for stumble links you must link directly to the page users want you to stumble and then use the thumbs up button in the stumbleupon toolbar.

Brady:I have corected that. I did not use stumbleupon till now so i did not know

I have added a statistics page as some of you suggested.

matt: i can't show a top 10 based on fav credits becouse credits are changed all the time: they increse when you give a fav to someone else and decrese when you recive one so when will have a lot of users online the credits will go to 0 shortly after you stop making tasks. Hope you understand what i say.

matt: I manage to make a top of users by counting the added links and tasks made. Hope you like the stats page :)

Stats page is great, although I wasn't clear about what the site-specific stats were at the bottom--are they the total number of votes a given bookmarking site has received within the given time period from the collective group?

I'll try to work on a basic FAQ and then perhaps we can wiki it, or at least have edits from the group.

Oh, and while I think of it, has ANYONE had any luck with Yahoo Buzz? They're in Beta and limit the number of publishers to a select few, so not sure if anyone out there had received an invite?

matt: You figured out corectly what the stats are. link are "added links", favs are "tasks made", user_active is the count for how many users have been active by ading links or making tasks.

About FAQ: Is good to hear you want to get involved more in the project.

About yahoo buzz. I don't know. If there is a limited number of users there a few chances that all of us can make an account there. But will shurly add it when it gets out of beta.
